要醫治關節病，寵物必須進食葡萄糖胺酼酸鹽 (Glucosamine Sulfate)，並非葡萄糖胺鹽酸鹽 (Glucosamine HCL) 。醫藥級葡萄糖胺酼酸鹽(Glucosamine Sulfate) 能在寵物進食後的4小時關節細胞吸收，並消關節炎及止痛，令寵物動起來。 相反如分開進食葡萄糖胺鹽酸鹽 (Glucosamine HCL) 及硫酸軟骨素 (Chondroitin Sulfate)，效果未如理想。因兩者化學結構大小不一並不能結合成有效醫藥級葡萄糖胺酼酸鹽(Glucosamine Sulfate) ，而身體會把多餘的葡萄糖胺鹽酸鹽 (Glucosamine HCL) 及硫酸軟骨素 (Chondroitin Sulfate) 排出。
